Oracle Park's Wind and a Quiet Card on a Busy Tuesday

Two totals clear our bar by double digits, the moneyline board offers one live edge in Boston, and the card is dark tonight. Here's how to read the leans and build a profitable DFS slate across 15 games.

THE READ

The single strongest signal on Tuesday's 15-game slate isn't a moneyline — it's a total, and it's coming out of Oracle Park. The model has STL @ SF sitting at 10.3 runs against a posted line of 7.5, a gap of 2.8 runs that translates to a 15.4-point edge on the over. That's not a rounding error. Oracle Park is playing with 11 mph blowing out to center field today, a 1.3 home-run factor and a 1.1 runs factor — conditions that tend to give the wind an actual say in outcomes. When the park is cooperating and the model is nearly three runs above the number, that's where the day's attention belongs.

The broader slate is honest about its limitations. Most lineups aren't posted yet — 144 of 162 tracked hitters are still projected, not confirmed — so treat any individual player lean in this column as conditional on those lineups going up intact. The model's edge on the card is a different matter: we're sitting out the betting markets tonight, which is a real position, not an oversight. The leans are sharp; the card is deliberate.

MODEL vs MARKET

Three edges cleared our bar today. These are tracked leans — edges the model identified — not official plays. No money is implied on any of them.

Moneyline

LAA @ BOS — lean BOS. Model win probability: 62.5%. Market-implied: 56.6%. Edge: +5.9 percentage points. That sits right at our 5-point floor for a material moneyline edge. Boston clears the bar, but barely, and the card reflects that the price wasn't convincing enough to stake.

Totals

STL @ SF — lean Over 7.5. Model total: 10.3. Model over probability: 66.5%. Edge: +15.4 points. This is the day's headline number. A posted total of 7.5 against a model projection of 10.3 is a substantial disagreement, reinforced by Oracle Park's outward wind today.

TEX @ SEA — lean Under 8. Model total: 7.5. Model over probability: 35.3% (meaning a 64.7% under probability). Edge: +14.7 points on the under. Two big totals edges in opposite directions on the same day is worth noting — the model isn't just biased toward overs.

All three of these are tracked on the board. None is on the card.

THE CARD

The card is dark tonight.

No play cleared our combined bar on price, edge, and confidence at the time of publication. The three leans above — BOS moneyline, STL @ SF over, TEX @ SEA under — are all tracked on the board, and the two totals are genuinely large model disagreements with the market. But a lean is a lean. We document them, we track them, and we revisit the assumptions afterward. We don't stake them just because the edge is interesting.

A dark card on a 15-game slate isn't a failure of nerve. It's the difference between having a process and having a habit of action.

DFS CORE

The value tier on Tuesday is concentrated in two games: the NYY vs COL matchup and the STL @ SF game the model loves on the total. With 144 of 162 hitters still projected rather than confirmed, treat lineup-dependent names accordingly — anything marked projected below is conditional on those lineups posting as expected.

On the confirmed side, Aaron Judge, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Ben Rice, Cody Bellinger, and Austin Wells are all confirmed starters facing Gabriel Hughes for COL. The New York lineup is the deepest confirmed stack on the slate. Ryan McMahon and Spencer Jones are also confirmed, giving you six confirmed Yankees to build around at a range of price points.

On the value end, Drew Cavanaugh (projected, SF, $2,200) and Christian Koss (projected, SF, $2,400) both project at 2.8 value per $1K — the best rate on the slate — and they're sitting in the game where the model is projecting 10.3 runs. That run environment matters for floor and ceiling alike. Luis Rengifo (projected, SD, $2,000) is the cheapest name on the value list and carries real ceiling at his price, but his floor is zero and his lineup is unconfirmed.

Jose Soriano leads the pitching value list at $8,000 with a 22.5-point projection — the best value per dollar of any arm today. Cam Schlittler ($11,200) projects nearly as high at 22.4 with a 77.1% win probability facing Colorado, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto ($10,700) offers 22.3 projected points and 6.5 expected innings. Chris Sale ($10,200) is the outlier: his win probability sits at 54.4% against Tampa Bay, which is essentially a coin flip, so the projection is real but the win upside is limited.

THE STACK

The optimizer's primary build is a TOR 4 + NYY 3 combination, projecting 104.3 points with a cash-game ceiling of 109.7. But looking at the individual stack table, the New York 4-man is the anchor of the day.

Stacks to target — total projected points (Env = park × weather)

NYY vs COL440.378.8$21.3K1.00×

CHC vs MIL433.069.8$22.2K0.90×
TOR vs OAK432.266.8$17.5K1.40×

The NYY stack leads on raw projected points (40.3) and ceiling (78.8) among the four-man groups. More importantly, it's the confirmed side — you know Judge, Chisholm, Rice, Bellinger, Wells, McMahon, and Jones are in that lineup, which removes the projection risk that clouds most of the slate. Colorado's Gabriel Hughes is the opponent, and New York's park environment grades at 1.0 — neutral — so there's no park headwind to worry about.

The LAD four-man is the second option, projecting 35.7 with a ceiling of 72.3 and the best run environment on this list at 1.1. Dodger Stadium plays warm tonight (89.6°F, calm winds), and Yamamoto on the other side means this is likely a low-correlation stack — you're betting on the Dodger bats to carry independent of their own pitcher's performance. That's fine in tournaments; just understand what you're constructing.

TOR at $17,500 is the salary-relief valve. Oakland's park is playing warm today (92.7°F) and Soriano's win probability is solid at 58.2%. The environment factor of 1.4 is the highest on the stacks list, which is doing real work even if the ceiling (66.8) is lower than New York or LA.

SHOWDOWN

Tonight's showdown slate is COL @ NYY, locking at 7:05 PM ET. The captain rule is straightforward: the captain slot costs 1.5× the listed salary and scores 1.5× the fantasy points. The math cancels on per-point value, so the real question for the captain spot is ceiling per captain dollar — how much upside you're buying at the inflated price.

Captain

Ryan McMahon (NYY, 3B) is the captain call. At the captain salary of $6,600, his ceiling of 15.1 flex points becomes 22.7 captain points — 2.3 points per $1K at the captain price. That's the case for him: confirmed in the lineup, facing Colorado, and a ceiling that plays well in the format even after the salary premium.

Flex

Austin Wells (NYY, C, $3,800 flex salary, 7.0 projected, 1.8 points per $1K) is the best floor-and-value combination in the flex pool. He's confirmed in the lineup and projects cleanly at his price. Cam Schlittler (NYY, P, $13,200 flex salary, 22.4 projected, 1.7 points per $1K) is the pitcher play: his floor of 8.0 is real, his ceiling of 33.7 is the highest on the slate, and his win probability at 77.1% means the win bonus is something you can actually expect rather than hope for.

Trap

Hunter Goodman (COL, C, $9,400 flex salary) is the name to avoid. At $9,400 he's the highest-salary tier in the pool, but his projection is 6.9 — 0.7 points per $1K, the weakest rate among comparably priced options. The model is meaningfully below his price. That's not a roster construction note about ownership; it's simply that the number doesn't fit the salary, and in a 20-player pool you feel every misallocated dollar.

WEATHER & PARKS

Six games have weather conditions worth noting today. Two parks stand out.

Weather that moves the run environment
GameParkWindHR×Runs×
ARI @ KCKC11 mph out to CF1.60×1.20×
HOU @ PHIPHI7 mph out to CF1.30×1.10×
STL @ SFSF11 mph out to CF1.30×1.10×
TOR @ OAKOAK5 mph crossing to RF1.20×1.10×
CLE @ BALBAL6 mph crossing to LF1.10×1.10×
CIN @ LADLADcalm1.10×1.10×

Kansas City is the most extreme environment on the slate: 100.6°F with 11 mph blowing out to center field, producing a 1.6 home-run factor and a 1.2 runs factor. That's the highest HR multiplier of the day by a meaningful margin. ARI @ KC is a game worth monitoring on the total side, even though the model's specific edge is on STL @ SF.

Speaking of which, Oracle Park (STL @ SF) is the second standout: 75.7°F, 11 mph out to center, 1.3 HR factor, 1.1 runs factor. Oracle is famously difficult to hit in under normal conditions, so outward wind at that speed is a genuine tailwind — and it's part of why the model is sitting at 10.3 runs against a 7.5 line. The other four parks on the list are in the 1.1 HR factor range and broadly neutral, though Dodger Stadium's 89.6°F warmth and Philadelphia's 81.5°F with moderate outward wind both add a small positive to their respective run environments.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Two angles carry the most weight tonight.

First, the STL @ SF over is the day's sharpest lean by any measure: a 15.4-point edge, a 2.8-run model-to-market gap, and a park playing warm with wind out to center. The card is dark, but this is the number the model believes in most on Tuesday. If your book has a live price that holds, it's the most documented disagreement on the board.

Second, the NYY stack is where Tuesday's DFS construction begins. Confirmed lineups, the deepest ceiling pool in the brief, and Cam Schlittler projecting 22.4 points at a 77.1% win probability give you a coherent lineup structure from the top down. Everything else — the SF value plays in the Oracle game, the TOR salary relief, the showdown captain — is built around those two anchors.
